Help...

I have a freelander 1 2006 the back window drops but the door won't unlock and I don't have a key or barrel to open it any ideas what could be the issue and how do I get in it

So firstly, the tailgate key hole.only raises the window if it is down to save you opening the car again to shut it.

If the window drops when you open the door handle then the CCU is getting a command to operate the tailgate latch.

Most likely it is the motor in the tailgate latch that has failed or a broken wire in the hinge of the door.

Check circuits and confirm the door is getting a release voltage to the latch..check on the connector to the tailgate behind the rhs boot side panel.

If it is OK then you will have to remove the inner door cover and release the latch with a rod hooked to the end where the failed motor is attached. Looking at a picture of a latch assembly helps you locate the right spot.

Personally I give the not right under the handle a good kick, that engages the servo that pulls the latch release and open the boot.

When you use the handle or button in the boot does it make an opening noise? Or is it silent?

Sometimes the hook that pulls the latch release falls off and can't open the boot, right pain to fix
