Blue point is snap-on made in China....... same warranty as snap-on, IMO snap on are over priced. There are tools out there cheaper priced and as good of quality as snap-on.

Blue point was a Chicago tool maker bought out by snap on, who is a Wisconsin

Yeah I do work for anyone, but seeing as we're mostly agricultural based business that just ends up its a lot of agricultural landys :)

I'm mid Derbyshire just south of Ashbourne so a little way from Sheffield but not too bad. I think my LZIR radius almost touches Sheffield though ;)
 
Thanks. Strangely the mechanic I use is also an agricultural mechanic (in North Derbyshire), a real traditional Fred Dibbner type. But some of the bigger jobs he has to pass on as he's kind of semi retired. Nice to know I can bear you in mind.

I think most of SnapOn/BluePoint gear is outsourced these days. To be fair there is nothing wrong with Chinese manufactured equipment as long as it has been specified very carefully by the customer. left to their own devices they will produce products of incredibly poor quality. (If anyone really wants to know how I know this, ask and I will post my experiences of "China sourcing")

SnapOn tools are good but not the best by any measure and they are way overpriced. For the pro the major advantage is the no quibble guarantee and the rep' who calls in once a week with his van stuffed full of replacements.
 
Lots of people stating snap on arent the best but not mentioning anyone else. Im not a snap on fan boy, just curious.... Prefer mac and draper for value for money myself.

I nearly bought some Kamasa spanners the other day from TK Maximas
6mm to 22mm £7
I find a veriation in spanner makes a good idear , they all have a differant crank and head size etc which is handy
+ no one is gunna bend or cut down a snapon spanner to make a stuby

Any way the wife bought a vase instead which is far more usefull

it is useful.use it to store your screwdrivers in it.:D

Can't find a straight answer as to where snap-on makes there hand tools they have both factories in the US and china. Most other non hand tool products are out sourced and re branded snap-on

Hell if I know don't deal with snapon tools they are over priced. Craftsman are just as good if not better for a lot less $$$$. Only convenience is Snap-on will stop at garages and float a loan for there tools.

The ratchets no longer have usa stamped on them and the local snappy man has had brand new ones delivered that dont work and jam up so I reckon china for them. There is no need to make them in china at their prices:rolleyes:

Higher profits you don't get to be a multi billion dollar yearly company, with out high profit margins
