Auxilary switches in ashtray space of 300tdi?

I'm looking to add a set of spots and a flashing orange beacon to my defender for a weekend event.

I want to add a couple of switches and am trying to work out the best way of doing this. I was wondering if I could make use of the space in the ashtray and whether there was a known kit that would fit there.

somone does a dash pod that just slots into the space the ashtray is in, possibly Mud?? can put guages or switches etc in it.

Thanks that looks great, except for the price, if it were more permanent then the price would be ok. Basically the 90 is providing support for a 24 hour bike ride, so has a yellow beacon light and a set of spots on loan for the weekend.

I just need to wire them in as simply as possible, and I can get wire and a couple of switches off the internet for about £5.

Is there any problem with wiring this direct from the battery with the 12v going through the switch as opposed to using a relay? I can run the wires straight out of the passenger door/window to the roof.

Iwouldn't want to run spots without a relay TBH

Only suitable if the switches are rated for the current being drawn, have you checked this? Personally I never use a switch alone and always use a relay however if it is a temporary set-up for one-time use AND the switches are correctly rated then it will be ok.
You make no mention of a fuse, I take it you intend using one for each circuit?

If its temp, dont bother, use a bit of ply, metal or similar, long enough to reach the centre panel (where yer cig lighter etc is) and hang down under the dash, put yer switches on there.
Relays are a must though.

Or if yer not having passengers, remove passenger seat base, put a ply/metal cover over the battery box in place of the original, mount switches here.
