p38 2.5 d 1999 dipstick on box
oil red
This a new box thenMain forward drive clutch slipping likely.
Ok slight change but little things can make big differenceWorth changing the oil with some of that Lucas transmission fix?
Ok slight change but little things can make big difference
As before but revs stay at 4000 for couple of seconds then drop about 2600 reapply throttle revs up then down it as if something is disengaging drive then limiting revs could torque converter disengage and ecu cut power
next on list oil change 4l run it for a bit and then lucas and another 4l
Is the Lucas transmission fix a detergent based solution then ..?
Thanks for the heads up. My auto box is slipping and being weird! Also the temp gauge doesn't move, Worth a new temp sensor at minimal cost!A new fuel filter sometimes helps. Because the gearbox may be acting up doesn't mean the gearbox has the problem.
Maf sensor, engine temperature sensor, fuel filter not 100% etc. All these can upset the gearbox.
The best example of this was one sunday morning. Recovery truck arrives. This particular range rover had been to two main dealers, three independent land rovers, 3 gearbox's later, & I found the fault within two mins. Engine temperature sensor costing £15. Lots of embarissed people over that one.
What model are you talking about? Thanks for the heads up. My auto box is slipping and being weird! Also the temp gauge doesn't move, Worth a new temp sensor at minimal cost!

Check the oil level. How long since an oil and filter change? Should be done every 25K miles.2001 P38 2.5 auto
One of two sensors for pré 99 and one of three for post 99 is for the gauge and the second for the engine ecu that can effect the gearbox performance in some ways, the third being the "too late I'm bringing the fans on its cooked" to help cool the engine in an overheat situation.2001 Range Rover Mk2 P38 Diesel HSE Automatic
