Ron is a top bloke. Read his story hereAll very clever and impressive.
I'd be happy just to have the bits on me workbench and know the engineering that went in to them. Wouldn't matter if it worked or not

You have to google for this phrase "Tales of a new business, trials and endless uphill battles by Jikovron"
Edit2: He has a website of his own https://www.rrmotorworks.co.uk/ I'm very happy to recommend him.
I know - I get all happy with myself if I manage to replace a set of rear brake shoesThis is all very impressive stuff. Nice to see a bit more proper engineering, knowledge and ingenuity. As interesting as Ali's build!
it's the reverse band that I'm stuggling to find. It seems silly to put it back in with a known weak partThis…?

Your other question is more tricky. The V6 and TD4 auto boxes are different cases and ratios. I have only ever used the diagram you show for non gear related parts, clutches, drums, pistons etc and they have always been correct for a TD4.
It is probably reasonable to assume that the V6 has the same internals unless you are looking at gear ratios. JP are very helpful. Give them a ring?
The reverse band is known weak point on these transmissions, and, as there is a "heavy duty" replacement available, and, as it is so much work to get these gearboxes in and out I am thinking that I should get an fit the heavy duty one now, whilst the gearbox is in pieces already. What do you need or is it just for data reasons??
found it https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/freelander1-no-reverse-gear.390527/post-5668483it was something to do with the number of rivets wasn't it?
