then normal road tyres will be fine

Why would you consider winter tyres? Do you live up a mountain? Modern ATs are brilliant all-rounders - you don't need anything else.

I found that AT tyres seriously reduce on road performance
Never had any issues with my perelli scorpion zero's in quite deep snow and light muddy instances

I thought winter tires were made from a softer compound and as such would ware out quicker

They are and should only be used in cold weather. They are obligatory in some parts as are a set of chains.

Going from Pirelli Scorpions to General Grabber ATs - surprisingly I found the ABS kicks in much less readily than it used to on the road biased Scorpions. I was expecting a drop off in tarmac performance but not a bit of it. I've tried to provoke it in the wet on roundabouts - but found it to have predictable breakaway with a surprising amount of grip.

comapred on the same tyres too.
i used to have GG AT 2's on my old hippo and they killed the handling.
maybe it was just the hippo at fault lol

nope just fitted them to my previous freelander.
that was bad enough, wouldn't want to fit them to an even heavier car
the need for decent on road performance outweighed the need for grip off road.
the L322 seems to cope well with standard tyres from what i have experienced

when i first got my Zero's I thought for a second they were AT tyres ! lol
quite a chunky tyre in the flesh, seem to cope in all situations very well i must say.

a friend of mine just did a land rover experience at peckforton castle and basically took a brand new range rover, not sport, through this quarry and other serious off road stuff and that was whatever tyres it came with as standard
it did have some pretty trick electronics though

£260 each for 20", i've read a few post about them being swapped for the cooper zeon LTZ and GG AT as i think wrangler are standard issue on some Landys. i would imagine the wranglers are much better on road and more than capable off road but i will need 5 or at least 4 which is a bit out of my budget
