mite go x country..... to Botley
He'll be off somewhere in the French countryside attending a protest rally. Is Emmanuel Macron free this afternoon?
I cannot say if a D2's heating system is the same as a D1, but when the heater matrix developed a leak in my old D1 I disconnected the hoses and just made a loop with hose from the rear of the head to the front of the head, that seemed to work fine and kept the coolant within the system. But it may be cold where you are and heating essential.Hi LZ,
Help needed!! I’ve got a 2002 Disco 2 TD5.
After an amazing easy drive from Hampshire to Paris via the EuroTunnel, about 50ks out of the city the infamous air in coolant gurgle started from the heater matrix behind the dash when pulling away in 1st and 2nd. Managed to coast in to the parking I’d reserved, no gain or loss of noticeable power, engine temp sat exactly where it had been in the middle for the past 300miles.
Thought it could be air from a small leak, hopefully not the HG.
Got back to the car this morning to a puddle of coolant on the floor.
Haven’t had the chance to investigate further than climbin underneath to see a good drip and a splash of coolant, hoping it’s a loose hose connection or clamp, but obvious concerns are build up of pressure which may have caused a rupture of sorts.
Will investigate myself but also Anyone know a reputable mechanic in or near Paris?

'Tis what the French do for recreation!
Yes, they are and always have been prepared to stand up and voice their disapproval of whatever happens to be pizzin' them off at the time, more strength to them. We should be more that way, instead our pollies continually screw us over, just because we let them.No he'll be sweet talking mamma Merkel and hoping she can pop the teeth out for the BJ
The yeller vests have been protesting every weekend for the last 4 months, quite impressive really considering here in the UK we can hardly muster a handful of folks for a protest about the death of democracy in this country yet they can whip up a few thousand at the drop of a pin when they put 10c on a litre of diesel.

That's a picture I'd rather not think about.
But she could be partial to the Bratwurst.

Anyhow, it's safe to say Macron won't be able to help with the OP's heater leak and coolant loss.
House was fine, few leaks on verandah roof, but it only leaks when it rains, so ok.If he plays his cards right he could get his help with some other type of fluid loss
How was home when you got back? No flood damage?

Only a bit of road pavement damage near a couple of the flooded river crossings on the road back.
Our "mens shed" got a bit of water across the floor because of a blocked storm pipe, but no equipment damage.
I'm already a subscriber to them, pretty good stuff too, though sometimes they carry on like a bunch of yobs.Thank god for that!!!
I really do envy you over there, we've found a youtube channel from 4WD Action, the fellas have a magazine and DVDs an everything there in OZ some spectacular off roading, only ever seen one Landy mind, they run 60 & 80 series Toyotas, Nissan Patrols and ISUZU Dmax with a few guest drivers an vehicles thrown in. If you get time then I recommend, obviously only if you have not already found them

Have you watched their "old telegraph track" vids, that's just up the road a few hundred klm from where I live, done that trip 10 times, going again in June this year.
I'm pretty impressed with the D max, Graeme gives it a workout and it seems it can go anywhere the big boys go.Actually I watched an episode today that featured the old telegraph track, I'm watching one right now and they are bogged to the bollix in Tazmania, that Barney from Legendex is an animal in that Hi-Lux lol
I must admit that I've fallen in love with the noise and power of the V8 diesel Toyota engine, always tickles me when old Rocket Rod is with them and he can hardly keep the front wheels on the ground in that 79 series of his LOL
water pump is your issueMorning, thanks for the help so far
Please let me know if I can still post here or if I should start a new thread? Sorry as I’m new to the forum. And new to the TD5 and Land Rover engines in general, My 3Dr RR classic has been repowered with a Toyota 3b...
Went down to the D2 this morning, have it a clean up, no further pooling of coolant overnight, so either the leak is higher than the current system level, or I lost it all... the lack of overheating signs makes me think this wasn’t the case but I’m not a LR expert.
I think I have located the source of the leak, the whole coolant system needs a good flush and new hoses as some of the lower rubber hoses are ‘crunchy’, the photo attached shows 2 holes which have been weeping. This is lower left side of block above the sump ( near side ).
Sorry about the quality of the photo. Any advice about what I’m looking at, is it the main coolant pump, or....
