Interesting that document excludes the use of tax exempt vehicle from being used for commercial use.

"They" can do anything they like but I agree it would be very unfair to include older vehicles in a new test that they were not required to pass when new. We might find that a new test applies to vehicles that are not all that old and had NOx standards when they were manufactured. Most older vehicles (like my '94 90) pay VED simply on capacity, I can't see that changing any time soon as there are relatively few vehicles left on the road of this age and are not really a target for the wider pollution reduction campaign.

I can't see a problem with this, for me the exemptions are all about preserving our motoring heritage not cutting costs for cheapskate business users.

Hono...yes bought it new in 1975 when I was a lad of 23...just about had my moneys worth out of it.
Nobody but me has ever had a spanner on it.

bet there aren't many that can lay claim to still owning a series from new, you should come up with a story of its life through the decades, that would make a good read in any mag,

Likely to be the same as when CO2-based tax came in - the official figures simply don't exist for vehicles produced before a certain point, so they can't be used, so they continue on the old tax scheme. Of course, they could ramp the non-NOx/non-CO2 rate...

I did offer to write a story for Classic Landrover Mag about my long term ownership...but John Carroll didn't seem interested when I contacted him...pity.
Its my daily transport and I never get tired of driving it to work and back every day.

Some of my work mate just dont understand running something like and old Landrover...all they know are euroboxes...very narrow minded people...or maybe I'm just odd.
