Autodata is showing the old V8 Classic idle speed around 550-650

I agree with all that, although I still dont like it flickering. the idle speed is as you say or slightly less for pre emisions equiped vehicles. either way I am about half what the minimum should be, next job for stu!
I cant quite fathom that engine. it s a 72 rrc the bonnet had alot of oil spray on it like it had been running a shagged motor for a few years. however the engine in it is the cleanest and best condidion v8 I have ever seen. looks brand new inside rockers and down dizzy hole, oil so clean you can hardly see it and it stays that way.
the drain taps undo with yer fingers and its like a sewing machine- so quiet - stuart said it was the quietest v8 he has ever heard, no leaks from timing case cover-still shiny ally.
so a replacement engine fitted recently you think but wait, it has the pre 76 oil pump and its painted black with a LR sticker on it in grey?????????? whats the story it doesnt add up unless.
the orginal engine was fooked within 4 years and blew its oil out and then a replacement engine form LR was fitted and then the car was put straight into storage for 34 years??? doesnt add up! not least because the rest of the car isnt in that condition- I wish
