Hi All,

Just about to enter the world of Range Rover with a 2016 SVR.

I am buying from an official dealer, who has mentioned the brake pads are 4mm and says that this is the minimum required by the 165 point check, which I don't have.

I can only locate the US version which say 6mm.

Does anyone know what the minimum brake pad thickness is on approved LR.

Many Thanks,

Badj

Legal limit in the Uk is 1.5mm for obvious reasons..

From what I remember from my dalliance in a Listers dealer they preferred to change them at 3mm..

Just get them changed if it bothers you.

dealer guidelines are a menace in some cases, the brake warning light comes on my bmw dash when brakes reach 50%
at 4mm, even on a big heavy car like a range rover, there will be many 1000s of safe miles left

Deal fell through but good to know now
As said above, deal should have fallen through the moment they advised you they were selling you a 4 year old,3 tonne vehicle, with dodgy brake pads.
Do not be blinded by the shine that a Range Rover gives off when you find one you like. Put your buyer's sunglasses on, and see it warts and all :)

Eurocarparts spec (Guessing which 2016 RR). Front 19mm thick, rear 16mm thick. knock off say 10mm for back plate (being generous) you are just under 50% front and over 50% rear.
No idea how many miles you get to a set but IMO theres a good few thou left.

Surely the measurement doesn't include the plate?

If you really want it pads are consumables like fuel or tyres really just get it done and budget in price for it.

My point is if he’s that cheap a dealer he doesn’t care wether you crash on way home or not what else will there be lurking, and what service will you get if it needs to go back for some reason ...
If it’s going cheap then fair enough but if it’s on forecourt top dollar that’s not good sign of costumer consideration.
