Freelander 1 ANYONE KNOW ABOUT RADIO SOCKETS ON REAR OF RADIO/CASSETTE IN A MK 1 FRRELANDER ?

Hi, I've got a 2002 td4 freelander fitted with a standard radio/cassette player & an Alpine CD changer under the passenger seat which won't work. Took the radio head out & found a Blitzsafe box behind it, but it only had the positive & negative leads connected, plus the cd player lead on the output.
Does anyone know what else needs to be connected & if so , to what?
There is an 8 pin conection on the back of the rad/cass, what for anyone?
There are also a couple of sockets on the Blitzsafe thingie box & an 8 pin socket wit 5 purple wires, all a bit confusing! Any suggestions would be great!

Can't find a wiring diagram anywhere, but you can buy a replacement socket unit for around £25.
But it's normally the cd unit has died.
