Hi, i am trying to find out if there is an upgraded/ ruggadised clutch available for the Land Rover Wolf (military Ver). It is used on and off road and can carry a heavy trailer, the current Land Rover clutch is not lasting as long as it should. I am fairly careful and an experienced off roader so i dont think its me!
Any one got any ideas or know off any upgrades in this area?

Any help/advise would be greatly apreciated.

Cheers

wow, you guys dont hang around!
How much better than the original is the model you suggest?
I would say the total vehicle weight is around 4 tonn with trailer, do you thing this clutch would give much better performance and life?
Also is it a straight swap?
I think the wolf is based on the Defender 110 (it is long wheel based) if this helps.

FTC1994 is the correct part number, get an orginal LR or OEM part and not a cardboard one from britpart - the bearmach one is good

it's a direct swop - can't say how long it will last as that's mostly down to it's use and driving style but it'll certainly last significantly longer than a cheap standard part

Are there any other options? i know an australian firm makes specialised clutches for 4x4's. Any one heard of any thing like this or used one?

Allso while your at it with the cluch might as well put in a up rated thrust bearing made out of billet ali from rakeway ltd thought id drop this in 4 you

no a manual. I have been told by a local dealer there is a Valeo clutch available with a heavy duty plate it costs about £155 and is a 5 piece kit.
Im not sure if this is just a 3rd party made ftc1994, the dealer told me Valeo make the oem clutches for land rover and this one is rated above the ftc1994, im am waiting for them toget back with the part number.
Can anyone give any futher info on this option?

if you buy the ftc1994 from bearmach it's usually a Valeo made item, or another good quality maker - if you buy if from britpart it'll be made in china out of old cardboard boxes

bearmach item is normally about £60 ish - for £155 i'd expect it to include the plate, a new top quality release bearing, a chicken madras and 8 pints of cobra delivered to my door by a 6 foot blonde wench

It does include a heavy duty plate, not sure about the madras! Do you think its an over priced dealer issue or a superior clutch?
The other option that has been sugested is to put in a TD5 flywheel and clutch in (they also do a heavy duty clutch for this model), sounds good to me! any one done this or know if its a good idea?
Would prefer not to replace the fly wheel but if it is a vast improvement might be worth it. The guy who suggested it was talking about it being able to handle 200bhp, means nothing to me, will it pull 4 tonn around on a regular basis?

just to clear up a few issues here, my vehicle weighs 3.5 tonne it always carries a trailer of upto 1 tonne and is used constantly on and off road. I am a very well trained and experienced off road driver. Please do not think this is a driver related problem, it is a weight problem. I am asking the vehicle to go above and beyond what it was designed to do, to do that i need an above and beyond solution. The TD5 flywheel and clutch sounds like a good mod but im looking for more info on this.
I have to carry this weight it is not an option so im looking for solutions not posts telling me what i already know, that the vehicle is grossly overloaded.
Any help or direction is apreciated

Well in my humble opinion i would buy a 7.5ton lorry that will keep you with in the law and resolve your cluch probs
