Hi, I am a new member and of the type of person who bought a Landy on Ebay whilst drinking a bottle of wine. Any how I'm enjoying doing up the 'the old bird' (109) and all my problems seems to revolve around replacing bleedin' rivets which I have never attempted before. Help!

measure the head of the rivet and use a drill bit at least 2 mm -2.5 mm smaller, and buy a hand rivet gun from the local pound shop/market.
I think you can get a good one for around £10

The ideal size would be around 3.5 to 4mm drill bit, i use a 3.5 on computer cases when i drill rivets so a landy might use a slightly bigger rivet but it can still be done.

Aye, welcome lad. I use a 4mm HSS drill to remove rivets, I picked up a cheap po riveter from Focus along with a load of rivets of different sizes. Box of 100 rivets (get 3.2mm x 6mm for bodywork) for about a fiver.

I thought the whole idea of the pound shop was that things cost a pound.

There cheaper at industrial fastener nut and bolt stockist type ironmonger thingy place five quid for 500 they wouldn't split the boxes so had to get 500.

The drill size for a 3.2mm (1/8in) rivet should be 3.5mm or 9/64 HSS bit. The one that looks liked a top hat where you cant see the end of the stem poking out of the shell is normally known as a sealed rivet.
