Anti-Theft Devices

Two easy and relatively cheap ways are to fit a hidden isolator switch and also a fuel cut off solenoid. Add in a steering lock for a decent visual deterant and you'll flummux most opportunistic thieves trying to nick it on the spot as they won't have the time to locate your measures . The pros will just turn up and lift the Landy onto a truck and deal with the security when they're in a private place.
Do as much as you can Mate. Short of chaining it to the ground.

theres a guy on here that had his towed off aldi car park middle of the day..good thing with a disclock is they cant steer can they
 
Ive got a clutch claw on the 101, which i use, but it is a pain.

The boxes that cover all the peddles - do they stay in position when you are driving? I mean, do you open them up, and all the parts stay in the footwell, or do you have to remove them and store them somewhere?

(i put down a deposit on a 300tdi 110 defender yesterday, so i need to get something sorted for that)

first thing i would get is a disclock...big visual detterent

I live in an area where every 5th car is a defender, so the whole "make it harder than the one its next to" will apply heavily in my strategy.

However, id still like to know about the peddle boxes (in addition, not instead of)

Some have to be removed others fold down flat on the floor.

Google is your friend ;)

I bought one of these last year. Really solid and easy to fit/take off with a little practice and covers the pedals on my 90 perfectly. Just don't drop it on your foot though. It's heavy!

a tracker is a good idea, i pin pointed when when i let the wife go hide it ..to car park 9 mile away..even texts me when it moves , the more expensive ones let you

If its a disklok get the back and the hinge welded up. Google is your friend as otherwise their is a easy way to defeat them that I won't discuss.
 
okay..all ill say regarding the disklok and how secure it is is that if thieves come with a portable grinder theres nothing that wont eventually come off, but that said it makes a hell of a noise at 2am on ya drive and pretty obviouse out side a pub,
ive sussed out where the weak link is but it will need a hand grinder , hence importance of a very loud alarm

It can be defeated a lot quiter than that. A small hand tool is all that is required.
I'm in two minds about saying on here. Part of me wants to so everyone can have theirs modifies to stop it, the other part of me doesn't want it public on the net although after I was told I did find it on the net.
 
Can I have a PM please? Think I asked about this before. I wanna weld up my disklok. I get the half moon bits but not sure about the other bit.

Also what thickness steel? 2-3mm?
 
It's a very simple weld. I will search for the pictures and post them up. Failing that I will use pictures of mine.

The disklok is a very good bit of kit. But eventually like all security scripts eventually figure out how to defeat it. The welding simply stops the two ways I've heard of getting it off.
The lock on them is a really good bit of kit and as a result other methods are deployed. Even a unmodified disklok is miles better than anything else out there imo and many people will not know how to remove them.
Unfortunately I feel we've just reached the point where the scum bags are now getting wise. My landy has been broken into 6 times since August even with the lock on show so now I'm deploying more alarms and noise to scare them off.

say no more ..cheers...i think theres always going to be ways to defeat security, as i said before its the more desirable cars ..defenders inc that make it worth there while to invest in specialist tools you describe.
i have freelander 1 td4 and i understand the only time they get nicked is by proper defender owners who then feel sorry for you and leave a defender in its place ,,lol....but theres a major offensive at mo on defenders
 
heres my tip in what i do...i dont think it should spin freely on the steering wheel as that leaves a gap where you may get something in, i fitted a steering wheel cover..nice one ..wood effect ..the disclok fits on with slight pressure needed to close, theres no movement in the lock and def no room to insert anything..i also are protecting the original steering wheel i was concerned from day one about the fact theres to much play in the disclok, i turn the wheels on to full lock..to the passenger side.. and use the locking bar jammed against the drivers door then theres no way they can straighten the wheels.
you can not in any circumstances move the steering wheel under the disclok as the rubber foam pads they use inside the lock are compressed on the wheel cover and lock it in place
