Another series(ous) stripdown

It's got a rubbery really sticky base with soft alloy outer, sticks like sh*t on a blanket; who knows anything is possible but i don't think I'll have a water problem. It's heat resistant too; time will tell if it is any good, thanks for your comment.

Sorry it's called RAAMmat, it's 4mm thick, on the bulkhead is 10 sq ft at £36

Bulkhead sitting in place and engine bolted in, the exhaust looks like it's gonna be fun and of course rad intercooler, all look like a challenge.

Looks like you got the same winch bumper as me have you found a winch to fit it yet? I am only askin cause it looks tight.

No I brought it second hand, it has had one on, I will worry about the winch at a later date.

Seems to be ticking along slowly just putting things in place at the moment trying to get things where they may work, setting out the power steering welded a bracket on not finished yet but I think it will be ok, got to sort out the damper and then radiator/intercooler/exhaust.:bounce:

Yeah that was a nitemare, it took a while to get into forth gear untill I got used to it, the motorways was best managed to get 40mph but some roads was real slow; really didn't enjoy that it was also icy later that night.

I'm glad you got her home ok... glad for you the 'boys in blue' weren't in sight. A dolly is only permitted for roadside recovery [certainly not on motorways] - so if the landy wasn't T&T they'd have had you [and the landy].

Sorry but i thought it was worth pointing out.

Sorting out the rad power steering and intercooler this week, managed to get the steering box bolted on and track rod with damper sorted just have to connect the steering wheel now and pipe it up, put the rad in front of the cross member quite close to the engine but I think it will be ok; if you know different don't be affraid to say. The intercooler I placed on the cross member upside down seems to fit ok, welded on some brackets to take the fan and cut out some of the front grill to cover all. Servo next.:crazy_driver:

Been doing lots of little things that take ya time, but the exhaust is coming on; taken a freelander front pipe cut it in half turned it and rewelded it and it goes down past the starter motor and frame easy, using some of the other bits managed to get past the gearbox and ready for the silencers to go on and all in 60mm pipe only taken photo's of first part.

Hi Telboy

please give more info on the power steering you are using as I want to put power steering on mine when I rebuilt it.

I've used the P38 unit bolted to the outside of the frame, I think you can only do this with disco axles as they are wider, not tried but the wheels may touch when turning with standard axles. Hope this helps, not filled the system yet and tried it but it works fine on a dry run.
Oh and I think it was the series 3 columb with p38 linkage

I think I have got it wrong with the steering column, not a series 3 but a 90/110/130 hard to say off a scrapper and not a lot left of it so not sure but it has 36 splines.:crutch:

Little update, got engine running so drove out of the shed for a photo shoot, was a little tricky as have not done the brakes or handbrake yet and then the heavens opened up and gave it a wash. I have cut the insides of the wings in half and put in an angle iron to bolt things on so when I attach the wings they will come off easy and give me more room to work on engine. The power steering was ace nice and easy still have not finished the exhaust but it was quiet. Miles to go yet at my pace it will take another six months.
