Alternator

S3 tensioner and the one on mine that might have originally held the dynamo in place.. the S3 one is a bit smaller but it doesn't really help me.

Longer 1100mm fan belt is in the post.. still unclear why the 1050mm fan belt fits for S3 owners when it doesn't for me.

And the 1100mm (another 5cm) is too long.. I can't rotate this alternator far enough away from the block to take up the slack before the black plastic casing at the back of the alternator hits the engine mount.

I've clearly not got the alternator other S2 owners are using. Somebody's told me I need a Lucas 16ACR elsewhere and the pictures of it do look a bit smaller than this one I've got "for S3 suffix B onwards and V8 range rover classics".

What made you go 50mm bigger, you can get a belt 1075 long.

simplybearings delivered very quickly. I got a 1075mmx10mm(wide)x8mm(deep) and it fits a treat. The S3 tensioner is clear of the alternator blades and the alternator casing is clear of the engine mount. Thanks again all!
