May have missed it somewhere in the thread but, where did you get the steering wheel from, i quite fancy one of those?

Can't remember exactly where the steering wheel was from but I am sure it was of ebay the badge is a wheel center filed down. the wheel is fitted onto a quick release which in turn is on a springalux collapsible adapter.
 
I have done the pattern for the second wing and it has come out so much better than the other wing that I have started redoing the first wing. I have spent ages on the first wing trying to work round some issues when I just need to do it right :rolleyes:



 
Also today I have been over too L&CLRC at Mow Cop to look at the Comp and see a few friends, it's a nice site with some interesting terrain.
I will post a few more pic's latter.

 
To be able to weld owt more than a flat plate would be good but to scratch build a chassis and panels is summat else! :cool::cool::cool:

Nah, Mate, we took that one out, and, I think, sold it to a lad from Sheffield, for £80, (And I was honest about it and told him it sounded like a coffee grinder!) and I bought another better one at Sodbury's? up near Brimham Rocks.... I think.

I remember talking to Superwinch, who took over from Fairey as the overdrive manufacturer, they told me to ignore the noise, and as for the hot oil... "Is it smoking yet?" "No", "Well when it does........ It's the right temperature to put the chips in!"

It was a long time ago. Linton. That motor was quick... Remember taking it out for a clandestine and unroad legal belt around The Marsh in Pudsey?
 
Phew what a weekend, I have spent all weekend working on the patterns for the front wings only to end up where I started :eek:
I have this pattern coat primer which won't react with any resin, only problem is it is difficult to apply and get a good finish, consequently when flatting it I kept rubbing through so had to apply another coat. Then I leaned on one of the wings and heard a crack. On inspection I had cracked the filler so had to grind it out and redo it.
Then when I was hand flatting I could feel some ripples in the wing tops. I tried to ignore them but in the end I had to sort them out so out came the filler and both wing tops were refilled and blocked down.
I have just applied pattern coat primer on both wings so am back to where I was on Friday all be it with slightly straighter patterns.
Making your own composite panels from scratch is a serious undertaking, if I had known what I know now I would have made alloy panels but I am to far in now to turn back.
