my holiday plans for november have fallen apart. so i'd like to endulge my mountain fetish. does anyone have any experiance of the alps at this time of year?
thanks

Hi,
I´m from Austria and I can give you some experience from the Alps. It´s depending on what you are looking for doing in the Alps. If you like to play with your car in the mud and in greater heights in the snow, it´s the right time. For bigger hikes it´s not really the right time, because all the cottages in the mountains are closed (or better say the most of them).
If you want some special informations please send me a pm.

Hi,

Done French/Italian and Swiss Alps in November, winter would have already arrived, a lot of campsites are closed. But look here for campsites open; CampingCard ACSI - Your low season discount card!

Some ski resorts have campsites that are open, I stayed at the campsite at Grosser Aletschgletscher.

We climbed from Gampel, through Goppenstein, Kippel, Blatten and finally into Fafleralp, but that closes end of October, but the night sky views are the best you'll ever see, IMHO.

Cheers, Mark

Hiya,
Camping La Corbaz
Ave des Gileres
74300
Cluses

It's open all year and with ACSI it's 15 euro a night
if you stick Camping La Corbaz in Google you will find the camp site.
It's less than 30 mins from the bottom of Mont Blanc and makes a good base camp.
We have taken a caravan and stuck it on 16 amp electric and used it as base camp.
If you havent got a current ACSI card you wont get one now till the new year, vicarious books in Tontine Street Folkestone is the best UK bod to get them from.
Vicarious Books in Google will get there web site.
Have a good winter
Peter
