Another question if I may - I have 2 plips and 2 'plain' keys that I suspect have the passive chip in them as they are the ones that operate the ignition.
Is this the way that the Discovery 2 was sold? Or do the plip keys also have a passive chip so that they can operate the ignition.
In my case, the plip keys only operate the drivers door (as keys).
I don't know the history of the truck so not sure what happened along the way.

HI @SteveClv

Have a look at the alarm issues attachment here, if you have not already,

The final thing in there is in regard to the key fob and the passive immobiliser,

Std keys do not have a chip in them . The plip keys have the added little yellow "chip" on the PCB.

Using a nanocom evo, you can change the car to unlock all doors. When you press the plip once, as std it only opens the drivers door, press it twice and it unlocks all doors.

Are your plips separate from your keys? normally it is a combined unit.

Cheers

The plips have valeo keys inserted in them - those keys only open the drivers door (manually) and the plips open the whole car (well they would if the central locking was working on all the doors but that's a different story LOL) - the plain keys are valeo but have a solid head (non-removeable) - these turn on the ignition.

So you are saying that it's the plip keys that are on the same keyring that are operating the sensor around the igntion and not the plain keys - so I could get a valeo blank cut and put that in a plip and it would operate as the ignition key - if so that's good news!

I can reprogram any key using the Nano so I just need to find a couple of good working ones from eBay :)

Hi,

First thing is , you program the car to accept the key. using the code off of the white sticker in the fob.

If you have the plip as you call them....:p.....on the same keyring as the normal key, then try this. Separate the two, unlock using the fob, then leave it well away from the car, get in the car and try to start it. What happens? NOW do it again but when you get in wait 30 secs and see what the dash LED is doing , now try to start it. What happens?

You can get new blades off of the bay, that will fit the fobs if the cases are good, but you need to go to a mum and pop local key cutter to get them cut.

Cheers

Hello again guys,
Hadn't realised this thread had been going on whilst having "fun" with the farms Disco. Bloody who uses fiber glass in the head lining. Got at least two glass splinters boo hoo.:(. Any how to report back. replaced receiver and dried out car along with using a tube of silicone to plug every conceivable/potential leek hole in the roof. Unfortunately on testing the key fobs still don't operate the locks remotely (not a problem practically as it doesn't get locked) but you can now lock/unlock with the key which use to always set the alarm off and trigger immobiliser. It has now been four days since fitting without having to enter the AEK so fingers crossed. I'm thinking that although this one may not be working correctly, because its not full of water and rust its not sending dodgy signals to the mother ship????
Still thanks for all your help and at the risk of upsetting a few people on here I have to take my hat off to you guys for buying the best of British. I was absolutely gob smacked by the list of threads you get when you search "water Ingress" on here and cant believe that so many design flaws were built into the old girls. Thanks again and enjoy your weekends fixing them!
