I've recently bought a TD4 which the previous owner had replaced the locking wheel nuts for all 4 alloy wheels. However, the spare alloy wheel still has the original locking wheel nut on it and the removal tool for the new wheel nuts doesn't fit it. How can we get hold of the correct remover tool?
There's nothing stamped on the nut (see attached pic) and there's nothing with the jack.
Any ideas?

Looks like will have to find someone who has tool to remove it or like said smaller old socket and beat it on to nut to remove it

where are you as maybe if put locn some one will help out if the are local to you??

Thanks for ideas on forcing it off if we have to resort to this.
I was hoping to obtain some sort of tool so that we could lock the spare wheel back on again; worried that it might get nicked.

We live near Worcester so i could go to Egdons but woirried that they may have a pricey option and was hoping to get a tool off e-bay if I knew what i was looking for :mad:
 
Go to your local dealer and explain the situation, if it's a genuine Land Rover locking nut they will have a full set of locking keys. Get the nut off, say thanks very much and leave. The locking nut will have a code letter on it, go on ebay and buy a key or a full set of 5 locking nuts with a matching key. Job done.
 
i use to have a socket with like pins(strong pings lol ) in 1size fits all type of thing cant remember what it was called but worked in locking nuts Dont no if they still do them :rolleyes:
 
I made a socket in 2 minutes for the same issue, find an old socket that fits snugly and grind a slot in it then weld a 6mm bolt vertically into the groove to slot into the nut and its done.you only need to locate into one of the notches to gainpurchase if you aint got a welder a jubliee clip around the socket and bolt will do.

There's no code on the nut (see original pic) so I guess I'll have to ask the dealer what size locking key fits it.

Oh o.k. Best force the nut off first and hopefully they'll be a code on the other side.

If it comes off undamaged we can get the correct key off e-bay and use the nut again and then I'll have a means of removing the spare if I have a puncture. Could buy a new set but trying to save money.
