Hi,

Can anyone help me. I have an opportunity to buy a set of 235 R16 alloy wheels to replace my steel 205 R16 ones. Does anyone know if they will fit OK or would I need spacers?

My first question is 'what are 235 R16 alloy wheels?'

If they are a standard LR alloy then they won't fit properly over the existing hubs/drums and you certainly won't be able to fit the centre-caps (you could if yours was a Defender but being 1985 it is a good old Ninety). Spacers would solve this problem and allow them to fit correctly but make sure you get the ones for alloy wheels (with spigot) and not the flat ones.
If they are an aftermarket wheel then they might fit straight on ok but without knowing what wheel they are it is difficult to know.

Thank you all for your replies. Looking at the alloy photos again in view of your very helpful advice and comparing to my old truck, I can see that the alloys would not go on without some modification along the way. I'll need to do some more research before shelling out! Thanks again:)
