I just remembered I used one of these a lot while standing on it.
Hi, I went through this kind of process a couple of months ago. I ended up buying a spare sump guard, taking out the plastic leaving the frame. Basically remade the tray with 3mm checker plate, rivnuts and angle iron so now I remove 8 bolts and the tray comes off to change the oil etc leaving the frame,Just waiting for some large diameter pop rivets to arrive to fix into place, but refitting will have to wait until I've undertaken the suspension/brake/ABS sensor replacement work - so more to come later
My neighbors love me tooI just remembered I used one of these a lot while standing on it.

I have accidentally been skiing down deeply rutted tracks on Salisbury Plain on the sump plate a few times since finishing it and it has performed beyond expectations. I didn't actually intend to test it quite so robustly. I am now going to make a rear exhaust silencer guard as I think that is very vulnerable now. Great help from good folk here.
Install one of muddymods 2" lift kits and bigger tyres and you'll hardly need a sump guard. With the independent suspension our cars have better ground clearance is better than most 4x4s.View attachment 122974 View attachment 122975 View attachment 122974 View attachment 122975 View attachment 122976

That sounds like something I would like to do but what does that involve? I think it was your sump guard I pretty much copied Alibro btw thanks dudeInstall one of muddymods 2" lift kits and bigger tyres and you'll hardly need a sump guard. I was using 3 mm chequer plate and bent the end up using a large diameter scaffold pole and generally applying weight (mostly me) on the curve. I was amazed because it worked really well; I tried mallets and hitting implements but just got a headache and an asbo. And as I said, the 3mm plate has been totally adequate so far and workable when I was shaping it. And I have no drainage holes at all because mine is not folded up the sides so there are gaps for drainage; no problems so far.I'll probably end up doing something similar! Lol
Looks great
My exhaust seems well protected by the tow hook, but will be interested to see how you make yours
I think you're right about the slim silencer. I have the MOT this month so may get that done first to see if anything else needs doing then look into silencer. So Muddy Mods was it? Also; driving light pods came yesterday: all there; all LR genuine £26.60 on EBay and does look ok to fit. SweeeeeeeetttttttI went down the slim silencer route, simply because it gives more room before it hits the ground. I made my own up for about £70. I couldn't have got an exhaust guard for less and that would have reduced ground clearance anyway. My slim silencer is well out the way. If i place a straight edge between the tow bar and rear sub-frame, the silencer doesn't touch it. So it's not going to hit the ground before the sub-frame or tow bar.
No, I can see that you will have no need for light pods with that bar!! I am not very confident at wiring, comes from early experiences with British motorcycles and being colour blind so never been my thing reallyMy light pods are still in the box at the moment.

I don't actually need them with my LED light bar up front. View attachment 123056

Don't get that problem with an AndroidIt's fitted!
Finished replacing both wishbones today, so put both front wheels up on drive-on revamps to finish torquing the suspension bolts and took the opportunity to offer up my new alloy sump guard.
Sadly no photos yet: my phone's storage is currently full! D'oh.
Will take pictures soon
Look forward to seeing what you do Phil!My sumpguard had saved me a lot of tears and paid for itself several times over! I am going to make a rear silencer and diff guard now I think using some 3 or 4mm chequer plate to do the same for the back end. Got some plans for one from Harvey the Rabbit on a thread here I think. Basically I want an armoured car really
LOL!Don't get that problem with an Android
LOL!
It's my own fault: I haven't downloaded any pictures for the last 18 months and I haven't paid for extra iCloud storage.
