Without removing it no but less than 18kg. At a guess maybe between 5kg and 10kg
I very much doubt you will notice the extra weight though, apart from every time you need to remove and refit it of course ;).
Rubber matting may not play nice at 70mph. I was thinking of something like alloy from a road sign or plastic from an old car under tray or maybe make something bespoke from fibreglass.
Right, good, completely obvious point that I dint think about
I will get my balaclava on tonight and see what road signs I can organise

I was just thinking with the slots and rubber you may have a lovely musical wind instrument going on.
Might be fun for a day or two but.....
At least with 4mm steel it should be easy to drill and tap holes to secure whatever you decide to use. ;)

I have been thinking (about how to avoid any work) and maybe in this sandy dry climate (rain in winter but still very fast draining sand) the slots are an intentional thing?
I've already had an offer to swap this one for a normal one
Perhaps it stops the inevitable sand that gets in from forming a dune on top of the closed standard one?
Also, gives better engine cooling?
Except for in the upper estuary where I sail I haven't seen much mud even in the wet winter here, and I wont' be going into seawater mud 😲
I will probably use that as an excuse just to waxoyl it and stick it on and see what happens anyway
I got some SS A4 bolts, but they only had longer ones - I don't enjoy cutting stainless

Because this is what I could get :)
(I'm going to spray 'blobs' of it on the parts of the Ally where the SS bolts go through too (Galvanic table) or the SS might eat through the ally) Actually, I might not use SS bolts at all.

I wouldn't fuss too much about the type of bolts or corrosion.
Unless your a sucker kinda guy you'll be removing at least once per year for servicing anyway.

... so you went with the dog's dinner
yup
It will work and I cant be @rsed to invest more time and effort in the subject
Everything is more stress down here, in the UK you just find it and order it, which I do with most things on my trips home to mum's, but this type of thing isnt something I can fit in my hand baggage
