Hi Folks,
anyone have any pointers on the above problem please?
When we talk about 'switches' in the doors that may be causing this, would it be the switch that operates the internal lights as when you open the door, or is it the drivers door lock 'switch' that may need investigating..
All needs to be sorted asap as I cant start the car, let alone stand the noise of the ****** alarm. On dashboard warnings it does state engine immobilised?? I have the EKA number but so far nothing seems to work..
Thanks,
Titch

What Rangie is it? A P38 or an L322?
If it's a P38 with a BBUS pull the plug on the sounder.
Sounds like your doorlock microswitches are stuffed, buy new switchpacks.
OR, check that your battery is >12.4v all the time when the engine aint running.
If it's an L322... buy a gallon of petrol and some matches.

Sounds like a p38 and it thinks it being nicked.

Have you synced the keys?
does the fob work?

Hi Folks,
it is the P38, 4L V8 2002. Matches to me, would be most useful if a later RR...
Car's battery is good yes, and I had thought about door micro switches too,
Not sure how to 'sync' the keys J?? all was fine up until today.. and the alarm keep going off is... irritating...
Where are the doorlock microswitches actually located folks

I've had a text of titch. What he needs to know is can I turn off the alarm and immobiliser and get him running again with my nanocom which is for the diesel only not petrol. Although....I think I can talk to his becm regardless and fix the issue? If I can, a step by step guide on what to do with the nano would be a great help to me.

You will need to read and clear the faults as a first step. Not sure on the V8 but it should not be possible to silence the alarm while it is being triggered. The most likely cause is the ultrasonic sensors. Once you sort the fault, use the Nanocom to turn off EKA and Immobilser in the BECM. DO NOT turn off the alarm.
Low battery volts can also cause this problem.

Bad latch microswitches can also trigger the alarm. If you unlock with key, but the microswitches do not do the correct combination, then BECM does not know you unlocked it. Hence alarm.

Best to sort the key sync, but it needs to be disarmed first. It's in the Owners Handbook.

Thanks so far folks..I am changing the microswitch/door lock this morning, when it stops raining...I do suspect this is an issue...
Then we are looking at the immobilizer I think....

Hi Folks,
I'm going to speak to Les at Classic Rides next week.. I feel that if I can get the beCM overidden and delete the immobiliser & alarm and EKA code.. we should be getting closer.. I have found water on the drivers side cill where the large amount of wiring is.. this is being attended to and virtually dry but I fear that it may have 'spiked' the BeCM I know a few folk that speak very highly of Les so I'll make that call...
Then, I'll be getting back onto my air suspension issues..
Thanks for everyone's input so far..
Regards,
Titch

Not a good idea to turn off the alarm, it may invalidate your insurance and it doesn't help with problems, just turn off the EKA and Immobiliser and you will be OK.

Fair comment yes, I had thought that.... So far I seem to have virtually dried all out, but got a decent sized building so the RR can stay under cover with doors open etc to continue drying for a few days still...
Checked & cleared sunroof drains etc I'm still yet to discover exactly where the water came from...
Heater matrix did have probs a few years ago and I have a new one to use if need, once I've got the grinder on the dashboard, but the water had no signs of antifreeze in the cill at all....
Then, I'll be back on the air suspension....

BeCM & ECU & key all sent off to Les at Classic Rides yesterday..I'm looking forward to the 'video' he says he'll be sending me of it all operational... I'm looking forward to what that entails.....

Water ingress... Hmmmm, leaking cabin filter housing to bulkhead seal,
the trim plate that sits above it aslo leaks through the screw that holds it down.
Leaks from above the windscreen,
Blocked sunroof drains.
Cracked seam between the body side and roof panel.
Blocked drains either side of the windscreen drain panel where the cabin filters sit. (the result of a degraded sponge under the windscreen in the vents below the bonnets rear edge).
