P38A airbag fault

So with the door open the corner valves will not operate, but the pump should run. At the same time as the pump runs the Diaphragm Solenoid Valve should open to force air into the tank. This is easy to check.
  1. Remove exhaust filter & the air-line that feeds tank.
  2. When the pump runs, check for air coming out of either tank feed, or exhaust port.
    • If there's air coming from exhaust port, then diaphragm valve or solenoid isn't working correctly.
    • If there's only air coming from tank port, then 1st measure pressure, and 2nd wait for tank to fill.
Also did you check the dryer is ok ? You can unscrew the top and check if the desiccant is ok or not.

All he needs to do is follow the instructions in the "How to".
 
Diaphragm is fine it's been changed and no air at exhaust. I'm thinking maybe a loose pipe just loosing my will to keep working on it. I had planned to mot or sell at start of Feb neither done yet and it's almost march
 
Today's update battery flat so that was charged arghhh.
It is now off the bump stops so must be doing something right. But still getting an error message after a play with the eas software I'm get tinge a losing it might not be the pump but maybe height sensors:-

See the whole right side is low how can I sort this?

Is the right side of the car low or is it just the height sensors reading low? Suspect car is actually low and you wll need to put in higher readings on the sensors to tell them what height to go to. Measure distance between hub centre and wheel arch and reset sensors. Correct heights are in either Saints or Wammers post here
 
She is sitting low it's very obvious at the rear drivers side.

Just trying to get this right in my head before I make things worse. So standard ride height should be 105 and measure 470 to centre of wheel to arch that makes sense. So if I measure say 450 I need to set height to 125 to compensate? Or do I actually physically need to move the sensors?
 
Set them on laptop. Don't move them. It wont be exact millimetres as the units on the sensors are not precise but are arbitrary numbers. If I understand it correctly.
 
So just guess how much to adjust them was hoping it would be a bit more scientific but guesstimate will have to do then

Don't move it more than 2 at a time. Makes quite a lot of difference. Take photos of start settings before you change anything.

Has it always been like it? If not, why the change? Has a height sensor been knocked?
 
Don't sit in the car to change the heights then get out to measure them. Must be done with no weight in the car, on level ground and with all tyre pressures correct..
 
It was fine until I had the wheels off and up on axle stands while painting the brake calipers one side at a time. So possible le I've done something then?

If you have hung the axles you may have taken the sensors to a new location and dipped them in debris. Move EAS from access to wade several times and see if that helps.
 
After a chat with my mechanic neighbour we came up with a possible reason for the dropped back end a blocked pipe or issue with the valve block not getting air to that corner. This came from jacking up the corner to take the weight off it and the air bag being soft.
So de pressurised the tank and refitted the pipes and then out came the soapy water pump running no leaks that's good except at the exhaust noooo just replaced the diaphragm :(
Thought just check the pump and nearly burnt my hand on the box under the pump so that can't be good.
So 1 step forward 2 back

If you jack the chassis away from the axle of course the bag will go softer there is no weight on it.
 
I didn't have the wheel off the ground so no weight on the suspension just jacked it up a bit to reduce the weight. Thinking was if there was an issue with the air bag it would be easier to inflate but you could still push the side of the bag in easily hence the thought no air getting to it.

If you have an air bag with weight on it and you lift the chassis and allow the bag to extent and increase in internal volume the pressure inside it will drop.
