P38A Airbag fault after new windscreen fitted

Just had a call from Autowindscreens, rang then hung up.:mad: followed by a text telling me the appointment was cancelled :mad::mad:.the've booked me another for Tuesday and to ring to confirm so I did. After listening to four minutes of self advertising I got through to an operator who hung up on me :mad::mad::mad:. I've eventually got through and it's now confirmed, as long as the top trim arrives.:rolleyes:

auto glass do **** you about mate why they changing the trims I don't think they changed mine

Guess they have had trouble in the past with broken clips and fragile trims,the fitter came with new top and bottom trims and clipss so I never stopped him fitting them. He spotted the top trim had a dent in it so wouldn't fit it, he's already fitted new clips ready for when they get a new one.:D

Well I tested the screen and only the near side works,looked at Rave and they couldn't make the set-up more complicated if they tried:eek: got the old laptop running so when I'm waiting for the screen guy tomorrow I can have a look for the airbag fault and the screen relays. Number 5 is ok as the n/s is working got to check if its powering number4.for the o /s.:oops:

Have you checked continuity on the screen @tomcat59alan to rule out a faulty unit? ;)

Give us a chance mate I'm still in bed,that was on my to do list after checking the relay,what genius designed this electrical system??? If I've understood it correctly the heated screen button grounds relay 15 which is ignition powered to send power to relay 5 which activates the n/s screen and sends power to relay 4 to power the o/s screen.:eek:

Two separate circuits so you still have half a screen as opposed to a total non working screen. Half is better than none:)... Come on, get up and get out there:rolleyes:

Yes luv,sure I've just had this conversation with The Enemy, my reply was I'll stay here are as long as you bring me tea.I'm on my forth cup and had toast and marmalade as well.makes her feel useful. :eek::D hope she doesn't read this. Yes n/s works hot to check out relay 4 and the power to it from relay 5.
 
Screen iced up this morning, n/s cleared very quickly,the o/s didn't took a photo to show the fitter IF he comes tomorrow. Going out to check the feed from relay 5 to relay 4 again.:rolleyes: couldn't find my test lamp the other day because the car was in the garage:rolleyes:

he might not of connected the elements in properly you pop the scullet off and have a quick look plus you could cheack ya earth if it that

I'm guessing the earth is fine as it works one side and I connected the two earth wires.as for the positive connection he did that so may not be fully connected, I'll leave taking the covers off to the fitter in case he breaks it.;) its either a bad connection, a broken wire or no resistance through the o/s of the screen.multimeter and test light at the ready.:D he's coming tomorrow morning.

did you connect them both to the new mont I cleaned both connections and sanded down the paint work I think if remember I had 3 amps when I tested mine for conuity
