air to coil swap

John, the one I just got rid of was coils, this new one is air. Don't change to coils, they are w, erm rubbish.

You know this from the rangey. Yeah they can be hassle but I doubt they are much hassle.

The bags can be fitted quick and easy, probs not for u but I can sort em for ya when ya need me to as you well know. I have been looking through the replacement pumps and because there is no reservoir you just need a 12v pump with 50% duty cycle that physically fits in the box and its sorted.

Cheap as chips.

FFS don't go putting coils on

Strangely the cost of a conversion kit here in NZ is less than the price of one air bag.
(approx 220 UK Pounds, bags around 240 each)
Which makes it a no-brainer.
And yes I agree the air ride is better, way better than my old D1, but "enough already" with the saggy arse.

Keep your air suspension, it is more comfortable. There's not a huge amount in it, but air is smoother,imho.

I've had TD5's with air and without air suspension and even though the coils do a good job, they are not as comfortable as air.

I agree the air is Much more comfortable on the road but the coils do give that piece of mind that air won't fail and I think are better off road.

OK but coils don't automatically raise the back end of the car if you get stuck do they? I appreciate this only applies if the body/chassis is grounded, not the diffs.
 
Good point, hadn't considered that at all. But if swapping to
Coils I'd always consider a small lift in the suspension but I appreciate that may not be best for road use.
