Just been chatting to a sales chappie , he tells me that I REALLY should look at a 300TDi as the 2.5 TD5 engines are prone to problems .
Oh yes forgot , he just happens to have a Tdi for sale .
Er... TD5 don't have a cambelt. Uses a chain. That's one definite reason I wouldn't buy another 300TDi (which had problems with the cambelt tensioner)The early td5 did indeed ave problems mainly with the cambelt tensioner (IIRC) however any that haven't been fixed will have snapped their belts long long ago. And so will have had a top end rebuild and had the modified tensioner fitted. So he's talking ****e. 300tdi'sdo have the advantage of having fewer electronic components to go wrong but that's about it.
