Looks sound but is a 200tdi better, worse or no different to a 300tdi?
From a quick Google search spec seems same engine wise so what is the difference?
I have been told that the only issue with the 200TDi is parts availability. It is, apparently not much of a problem yet, but may become one. I would have thought that enough were made to get more or less anything from a scrapyard..
The 300, however, was made in enormous numbers - still made in fact for use by the military who don't want electronics (!!) - so parts availability is likely to be very good for many years. Similar story for the gearboxes.
I have worked on both, and don't really have a preference. I have a D1 300 because I prefer the facelift front!
Thanks again people! Been to see the 200tdi today and it's not bad. Not a smooth or quite drive but still a good runner. A few rust spots on inside of doors but all major rust areas are clean or have been re-welded. Got 10 months MOT left and has a lot of service history receipts. Think its going to be one of best disco's I will find in my price range but still want it a little cheaper.
