Hello...My first post... just bought my first 1994 Defender 90 and needs some 'cosmetic' work. I am stuck on finding the name of this 'rusty bit' that runs from the rear door and along the side. Looks like water may be getting in between the seal. Difficult to search previous posts if I don't know what it is called.
I got my Haynes book this morning and thought this 'bit' would be shown but I am learning!

Your advice would be most appreciated on the following please

1 What is this bit called? (please dont say the inside:))
2 Can I buy one?
3 Do you think I need to replace it?
4 Is it a straight foward job?
5 Why dont Paddocks show pics of all bits for the novice!

Thank you for your time...pic is attached

Its a body capping I'm sure you can buy galvanised ones. From memory they are also stuck with double sided adhesive and a bloody pain in the rear end to prise off that was an F reg 90.

Depends if you can clean it up and its not rusted too badly you could just re apint it and put it back on. Put a bead of silicone around the back body before you refit the roof and check the seal if its still there. Jai

Thank you Jai... now I know what it is called it really helps. I think I will replace it (maybe both) as on closer inspection I can see daylight. I am sure once I manage to get the roof off it will reveal how bad it really is. Just need to learn how to rivit and paint:) but it will be fun at some stage! Lots of good info about.
