Winter tyres gave a different compound to keep them supple on a cold road. The squiggles are called sipes and the grasp on to the snow for added traction. Rubber on snow isn't great, snow on snow is better
I did yes, I got 40.000mls from them as well. Not a bad Tyre when let down to about 16psi (off-road).Surprisingly quiet with the AT2. The AT3 has a less aggressive pattern so I would guess quieter but not so good in mud. Sure someone on here had AT3s, @Mark Piercy ?
Here in Norway we usually use 2 sets aswell. maybe up north they only use winter tires dunno, never been there
I don't need the snow marking on my summer tires, nay. It sure is an advantage (as you wont need to rush to swap to winter tires), but i've heard AT tires in general ain't sufficient enough in cold weathers/icy roads.
Heard AT tires are quite decent on Snow, atleast some of them.
I did drool abit on the KO2's, (as a primary winter tire) but i got told they really were a joke on ice.

I had At2s on mine, not cheap 10 years ago £134 from MyTyres (255/55r18) now £234 but, they don't have any in stock at the moment, good tyres though.

You run 2 sets cos you have studs. Do you have to run them by law? Or do you need only “snow sign” to run winter months?
From what I know about tyres (not much) the snow 1s are a softer compound and have those funny little squiggles in them don’t know the tech term.
We carry chains (law) for a few months of the year and require snow markings. Never had to get chains out yet
Not many tyres are great on ice, except maybe your studded ones.

I run them partially by law. I use them in the winter months were winter tires are a must, but im lowkey not paying stud taxes... I have to pay extra tax/fees using the road into the "main" citys, like normal roadposts wont charge enough.... I dont usually drive in the main citys tho so i couldnt be bothered spending anymore than already.. and at theese diesel prices
And yea i gotta serve in the military in upcoming month... serve for 12months, minimum... ough, rip p38 dusting down in garage, MOT is due in june, and im heading in military in 4 weeks..
