Advice needed - removing rear lower link chassis bush

I am replacing the rear lower link chassis bushes on my Defender 110. Got the link out fine. The issue is that I cannot shift the chassis bush (the one that is the large bush with triangular mount) which is the standard rubber single piece item. I have got the bolts securing to the chassis mount out ok. But the forward end of the bush is so 'bulged' that it will not withdraw. Before I start to burn off the rubber with a blow torch and gas myself any other suggestions?

This is the bush that has the rear trailing arm going to the rear axle?
Presuming you've removed the trailing arm, then you should be able to pull it out.

Pretty sure the bush comes in two halfs, with a metal tube through the middle of both.

Correct in your assumption. Sadly the chassis bush is not a two piece polybush (wish it was) but the standard LR one piece rubber bush like these

recip saw used carefully should cut the swelling off ( ooo err ) - probably best between the rear of the chassis mount and the bush, as it will be easier to get at ( you knew that, I know )

Or, you could lube it up ( ), and use the trailing arm to waggle it free, maybe... ( don't cut the trailing arm though!!)

Given it is rubber, I think it might burn a little to well, and gassing yourself might become a secondary issue as you watch the vehicle "let its smoke out"

Cut bulging bits off with saw/ steak knife, anything you can get in there and keep rotating it till bulges are off then push out.

Thanks to all for advice - decided to see if softening up rubber with blow torch and using a jemmy would work. It did - did not have to burn it deep. Just enough to give me some more movement and then lever it out. Not gassed (cough, splutter..)

I had to do the exact same thing aswell with @johnlad today aswell as changing the transfer box aswell. was a complete nightmare but all done now I to am a bit gassed out with the smell of burning rubber.

I remember changing mine when I first had the truck. My mate ended up angle grinding it off it took that long we gave up after one haha. There was smoke everywhere. Of course only replacing one made my truck feel like I was driving a crab and I had to get the other out. I recall using alot of lube and a big hammer. I'm due to change them again at some point but I think they will come out alot easier now as they arnt as bad. Good luck
