Hi need a bit of advice going ahead with my 19j. Im keeping the truck totaly original inc the engine and ive not had these issues befor with 19j engines. Personaly i love them. I done a video but the inter**** wont play ball so ill try explain. original engine just went 128ooo miles but its had work n the past. New injection pump mainly, new timing belt recently. With 20 seconds pre warm fires right up but lumpy kicking out blue smoke, settles then odd puff off more blue smoke otherwise idles fine. once warm hold a higher rev its missing yet again blue smoke but not huge amounts. Take oil filler off it breaths but not outrageous and nothing from dipstick. Everyday running hardly uses any oil less than 500ml per month. Good on fuel. Now turbo does need sorted lots of play. In my gut im thinking timing issue possibly but id really appreciate your input as i want to keep this truck totally original and not revert to the 200tdi i rebuilt as thats a total failure in my eyes. Happy to get down and manky with my girl let me know whats your thoughts. Thanks. scott.

Unless your timing is irregular (if so, why?), I would start by looking at the injectors. The nozzles are easy to remove and clean. I did mine in an ultrasonic cleaner after a gentle scrape with a piece of hardwood. If no improvements, start looking at the pump.

Any feedback on this smoking 90?

I had a very lumpy idle and miss-fire on my 110. After installing a second injector pump, it turned out to be the injectors themselves. They had supposedly been "overhauled". A second overhaul and they now produce an acceptable spray pattern and the motor runs smoothly.
