Advice about buying discovery

Hi all,

We will be moving to portugal soon where our place has 4x4 access. We are looking to spend between £1000-£1500 on an old discovery. Neither If I s are particularly mechanical so we are really looking for something as reliable as possible. Can anyone advice us on the best year to buy and what we should be looking out for.
Also if anyone has one to sell then please let us know.

I would try to find out what the most popular 4X4 is in Portugal and then buy one of them especially if you and no mechanically minded. I have just come back from an expedition in Spain and apart from other foreigners on 4X4 trips we didn't see that many landys.
However we saw 1000s of Shogun/Pajeros so if I was moving to that region of Spain I would probably get one of those as parts will be available and the locals will have the skills to help you out.

As said I'd look at the availability and prices of spares in Portugal before shelling out any money. I appreciate that you can always get stuff shipped over but you need to look at costs.
