Most pages seem to have 4 ads before the first post now and the "forum" page has almost every sub forum separated by an ad. What's going on?

Not sure anything changed much recently. An ad at the beginning of a thread feels kinda fair enough (I just get 1 before the 1st post). The drop down one is annoying cuz it gets in the way of the header links.
I really don't like ads being stuck into actual posts as though they've been uploaded by the poster. If a poster actually did upload ads I'd delete them as spam and if they kept doing it they'd be banned ffs!
I did complain about the ads inserted in threads that imitated a post by a member and they seem to have disappeared at least.

Who puts the ads on in the first place? Is this the choice of the forum owners to help pay costs, or are they forced upon us by Apple/Google?

Now it's stuff I've never heard of or shown an interest in...ever.
I'm quite late to the internet though having no real interest in it until the kids starting whineing about getting it around 7 yrs ago.
And the worry of them being left behind.
I've always thought it to be a tool of evil tbh and still have no real interest in it.
The point I'm trying poorly to make is that internet type influence doesn't work on me and I just don't 'see' the ads and don't allow them to annoy me plus being a pooter tard, I've no idea how to get rid of them anyway.
