You are pi--ing in the wind, James and Sierra are spot on here.The ACE system runs high pressure lines that are poorly protected against the elements and can be expensive/difficult to repair,a gasket would not withstand the pressure involved.
You have two choices,you either fix it - properly or bin it and accept a car that has slightly less capability.For my own car I chose to bin it and fit solid ARB's as I wanted my own car to be as simple and reliable as possible.ACE can leave you stuck on the side of the road,solid ARB's cant.
 
theres an articles on this site. where someone drilled and tapped the valve block and fitted flexible hoses.
an alternative that could be cheaper and easier to fit if you want to keep the system?
 
I have done away with mine, and cannot feel any difference. But I have never been one for throwing it into the corners. I have to agree with Sierra however on the fact it is a well designed system that does a good job. If LR had fitted it with stainless pipes and threaded valve blocks it would be perfect.;)
 
Help, urgent - I need help! (TD5 1999)because of a leak coming from two of the pipes from the ACE valve block, I am trying to drain the system so that I can seal it with a special silicon high pressure sealer.I live in Germany and where I am there is no Landrover help"! A mechanic has twice failed to seal it.The proble is this; in order to do this,the block must be dry and although I have emptied the reservoir and taken out the block filter,it is still very slowly dripping ace fluid, and this after three weeks.My question; What must I do to drain it completely dry? The silicon will not work while there is still oil coming out.Eventually I want the ACE system removed and replaced with a pully etc etc although there is nobody I know that can do this!
The silicon seal I have was reccomended by a Landrover expert from Berlin who has done this many times with success.
 
then how did that expert drain it dry though... if he's done it many times he should have told you how to drain it but i have some doubts about silicone at 135 bar, if the leak is from the block seals and you want to fix it just fit new original seals and that's it...if you want to bin the system for a leak your choice, there are simple improvisative ways to do that too especially if the actuators are not leaking: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/2791397-post8.html

Hi, I have a 1999 td5. After four months of ACE leaking problems I have decided to replace it and as soon as possible! 2 problems! 1. I couldn't do the job myself. 2.I live in northern Germany between Hamburg and Lübeck and can find no mechanic who has any idea regarding ACE problems.My nearest landrover dealer in Lübeck would not replace the ACE.No Landrover dealer would!
Do any of you out there know where I can download a laymans diagram on how to go about this? A video would be wonderful!
It seems nobody here in Germany has heard of the 'ACE removal kit.'! I would order it from the UK but without simple instructions it would be a wast of time! Any suggestions (almost any!) very very welcome!
