Hi people,

What a nightmare we are having with our ACE Value unit which is located under the Drivers Seat on the chassis. The problem was and is again fluid leaking from the rear pipes where they connect into the value block.

So far we have replaced both rear pipes to the valve block, lasted for a few weeks then started to leak again.

Then we replaced the seals with o-rings thinking this would fix it, but it didn't.

Now we have replaced the seals with offical parts from Land Rover - RVW100010- and now its still leaking,

The leak is serious which means we don't want to drive the vehicle.

So the main question is, do we try and repair this or modify it with hydraulic fittings or remove the whole ACE Unit altogether?

Car details are a Discovery TD5 with air suspension.

Any help is much appreciated, Cheers!

Did you twist them when you fitted them as they are just a push fit & should never be twisted when fitting as this f###s the seals also was it clean when you did it as just one bit of grit & job f##ked

Hi, no didnt twist the pipes or allow and crap to get in it was all squeaky clean and went together really well.

Dont know why your`s is leaking did you have a look inside the block to see if any bits of the old seals are stuck in there was told by a landrover tec that it dont take much to f##k the ace block

Yeah fished all the bits out of the valve block, to be honest this ACE system is a waste of time, the only thing that this has been designed for is Chelsea tractors. Been thinking about getting everything to remove the system and replace with standard anti roll bars but will it drasticly change the handling of the vehicle, don't got bombing round the back roads just take it steady got to think about the mpg all the time.

i find it improves handling without having h.d springs ,try it with test kit and see how it works stood still

register here The D2 Boys Club. - Login then go to "How to... " section and find keeping ACE going (inc valve block mod) thread ... there's your answer

The simple answer is no - it won't affect the handling drastically if you remove the ACE and replace with std non ACE anti roll bars.

I've driven both and whilst I prefer the handling of ACE-equipped cars, the modified car drove almost as well but without the nagging doubts associated with non-durability of the ACE equipment.

Fit normal antiroll bars and use genuine red polybushes to mount them and you wont notice the difference

Thanks for all the advice guys, looks like i will be going down the route of getting rid of the ACE system altogether, will keep you posted on the results once fitted and tested.

P.s where is the best place to get all the bits that i need to do the conversion and where to get the red polybushes??

Polybushes you can get from polybush (google is your friend) the roll bars you will have to check out the landrover breakers or eblag.
BUT first I would have a good look at your ACE system if its in good nick apart from your leaks I would very seriously consider repairing it. It might be a lot cheaper and a lot less hassle than ripping it all out and fitting anti roll bars. I am sure your leaks are just something simple like mismatched parts.

A mate of mine replaced all of the pipes and fittings on his ACE system with some flexible hydraulic pipes he had made by a local forlift company at a fraction of the cost

id have a word with your insurance company first ,just to make sure ,even though disco comes in non ace form ,there allways looking for a way out
