Got both of the above plus "Traction Control Failure" on the console.
Nanocom pulls the following message from the ABS ECU "Front Right Sensor short to other" with a count of "12 times".
Have cleared the messages but it immediately reappears on ignition on.
Nothing but trouble this lemon. :(
 
I have a similar problem where 3 sensors read 2.35 volts and 1 reads 2.27 volts.I have tried a new sensor but have the same reading, does anyone know where the connections are to the sensors?, I suspect a dirty terminal

There are plug connectors on each corner that the sensors connect to, then the wires go direct to the ECU.
 
Is the ECU under the glove box, I am thinking poor connection or high resistance would cause volage drop. but I know nothing about electronics i,m afraid
 
Maybe because there is a problem with the Front Right Sensor or the wiring thereto?!?

But with a P38 can one really be sure? :D
Does it mean the right one as you sit inside the vehicle, or the right one when you stand at the front looking back at the vehicle?
How can you trust anything it says when it illuminates a lamp to say A/C is off rather than lighting the lamp only when the A/C is on?
 
Took the Right-Front wheel off and removed the ABS-Sensor from its tube. Looks like "Brand-NEW" beautifully clean and shiny.
Gave it a wipe over anyway and tapped it back in fully home. No difference, immediate ABS-Fault followed by "Traction Control Failure".
Will have to look elsewhere for the fault.
 
Out of interest... pull the sensor out and try to reset the fault...

There was a thread on Rangerovers.net not so long ago where a guy had the same issue with a RHF sensor fault. Link is here:

I doubt it's the ECU - the "LH Rear sensor short to another sensor" fault is normally the one attributed to the ECU failure - which I can fix most of the time these days - but any of the other sensors showing that fault could either be a bad connection, or a bad sensor. Though I think in the thread mentioned he was getting an error if the sensor touched any part of the hub - though his fix was to push it in all the way, then drive it to set the sensor depth, and then the fault didn't come back..

Seems a bit odd. Should be covered in white grease.
 
Oh, and interestingly, the "sensor" has no "tooth" (which I would expect to see from any transducer type device. The ABS sensor I extracted was a flat-ended cylinder; no protrusion, no tooth. Looked reminiscent of the -ve end of an AA battery with the wrapper off and just the metal case exposed.
But as I have never seen one before I know no different /better.
 
So, it may indeed mean a new ECU. I drove it today and the ABS & TC lights stayed off and the "Traction Control Failure" console message was absent.
Until the one moment I braked a bit more forcefully and then the ABS activated (perfectly dry non-slip conditions) and up popped the 3 tell-tales.
What a pain. ABS ECU ordered. Ker-Ching! £££
