Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Well ordered a new starter and got it fitted Friday evening, she spins over like a good 'en now :)
Saturday morning I decided to strip the rest of the chassis down.

Just got to decide which way I'm going to go with the rebuild, their is no engine, so I have a couple of options in my mind..
If it is to be a 200tdi like it was when built it has to be a proper defender one, not a fan of how the disco one fits/looks and if not the proper defender ones are like rocking horse poo or a fortune..
Or I buy a donor disco 300tdi and fit that.
So basically I need to decide which chassis/engine mounts I want.
First thoughts where buy a 200tdi type chassis as if I fit 200tdi it's good, or if I end up with a 300tdi you can buy conversion mounts and it's good.
Or just buy a 300tdi chassis, because if I end up with a 300tdi engine I'll be annoyed at having to buy the conversion mounts.
Can't really win either way, but in truth it will likely end up a 300tdi so will probably go that way.
Just need to decide and get it ordered either which way as the waiting list is rather long from what I hear.

Might even cut the old chassis up later too, just to get it out of the way..

Guess I'm kind of committed now, cut the chassis up this afternoon, well it saves it being sat about for months on end and gets it out of the way.

Last night I also got the front axle on axle stands, wheels removed, radius arms off and ready to start stripping down.

Until I had a thought before I came in today, and remembered I had a galvanised front axle casing in the shed, glad I never sold it now :)
Axle will want everything I think, new swivels, cv's, discs, pads etc.. Had enough of spending money lately

Unless you are going down the 'keep it as original as possible for max value' route, then the 300Tdi option would seem logical. Or, you may be able to find a 200Tdi fender one going cheap because it needs a lot of work, you are more than capable of resurrecting an engine that many others wouldn't take on.
The wheels on the green project look great. I think I would go with the roof colour too, but I haven't got an eye for matching colours. I've just asked the Mrs because she's excellent with that sort of stuff and she says definitely the roof colour!
