Hi, i'm new to te forum. I'm sure this will get back to the right people going off the number of users on line.

Last wednesday I did what isn't recomended and decided to do some gentle off roading by myself. Unfortunately I became stuck within 1 minute of starting :( . What made it worse was that I had my 3 year old lad with me.
To cut a long long story down to a long story I managed to get my father in law to pick me and my lad up, take us home and then for me to return in his car with shovel, planks etc.
It was peeing down at the time (no suprise there then!), so I decided to grab a quick sandwhich prior to setting off to rescue te bogged down Disco.
I was gone for an hour at the most, and on my return spotted another Disco driving up the gentle hill towards my stranded vehicle. The owner turned round when he spotted me and started to make small talk, but didn't want to get involved in the recovery as he thought the narrowing track was too difficult for his standard Disco.
Fair enough I thought, I could probably get it out by myself anyhow :)( ).
Upon reaching my landy it began to dawn on me that in the space of an hour it had been tampered with. The 'Landrover' spotlights were left dangling by their wires (brackets having been snapped!), a wiper had gone missing, drivers door lock tampered with and valve caps missing!!!!!
I figured that because my lads toys were scattered around the vehicle, and the fact it was locked up would disuade any would be thieves. Obviously not!

Anyhow, now for the thanks.
After trying my hardest to jack the rear end up and get the rear wheel onto solid ground, it became clear I wasn't getting very far.
It was at this point a Defender with two chaps came up the hill.
He had some VERY big tyres on but an hour later I was still bogged down. We had broken 3 ratchet straps and a very thick rope. I managed to get hold of a thick wire rope from a local scrap merchants, but the defender could not get enough traction even with his mighty wheel/tyre combo. He even got bogged down himself for a while.
Another chap turned up on a bike and offered to fetch help. Then another landy turned up (not sure what model it was, red 80's model).
between them they managed to drag me out, 3 landys in line all with diff lock on spraying carp everywhere, quite a sight!
Sorry, I never got your names but I am very gratefull for your help. Especialy to the Defender boys who were there for 2 1/2 hours plus!
Also thanks to a chap called Kevin from shaw (and his winch equiped mate) for turning up just after we had recovered it, and the chap on the bike who told you of my predicament.

As for the robbing Disco driver, well I can't say for definate, but if I was a betting man.......

Overall it seems the good uns outdo the bad uns.
Thanks chaps :)

Took digi camera with me when I picked the spade up, but the wife had removed the memory card!
Got a little vid on my mobile but don't know how to download.... or offroad it seems :D
I also ripped the corner bumper off. Its looking a bit poorly at the moment. Especialy since I rolled it at Cowm quarry a couple of months back

I do have a vid of that but not sure I should post it as you'll think i'm a complete imbacile (you would probably be right too!)
