hello jack tony here,
hopefully you enjoy being on this site, good to see you are getting stuck into an old landrover, and if you ever need help or info feel free to ask, other members will be happy to help out.

Tony.

Hi Jack, Rust not a big issue where you are unlike here on the Welsh coast. Looks like you have a good base for a restoration and it will get you well off road. One thing I did on my series 3 was put an extra strap [ flat strip of metal ] from the bracket that fits where you have welded to a point under the screw in the pic to help take the strain. Good luck.

started the day with some door surgery on the replacement drivers door which is complete with bulet holes
IMG_7735[1].JPG
IMG_7740[1].JPG

doors striped and por 15 the steel then rattle canned in a similar colour to og well the blue one anyway still undecided what to do with the white one
IMG_7742[1].JPG

por 15 and paint for the fixed footwell also
IMG_7749[1].JPG

then striped out the pedal towers to start fixing the drivers footwell
mudgard? done
IMG_7751[1].JPG

then cleaned up and rehung the pass side door and sorted the latch and door top that is pass side sorted in terms of rust got to love dry inland cars
IMG_7756[1].JPG
as a bit of context, this is all being done in a childhood neighbors driveway which is 30km from my parent's house where i am staying while on break haha
and thanks for the welcomes

not sure if anybody is interested but tonight's instalment
Decided that i could do better than a wrongly coloured door so i decided to swap door skins haha need to weld a crack in the original blue skin before i put that skin back on
IMG_7761[1].JPG
IMG_7764[1].JPG

then i spent some time remaking most of the steering box cover
KUGM7365[1].jpg

then it was back to cutting holes in the floor and making it whole again to complete the known rust repair on Hugh just a bit of paint and fix the smashed up check strap area definitely going to be adding strengthening straps like suggested

finished up with prepping the metal for por 15 and adding my lock from my munted original door handle to my replacement non-locking handle forgot a photo of the finished product sorry looks like it should work now just to figure out if i have the key haha
IMG_7781[1].JPG

probably doing this all wrong and you are all cringing at what I'm doing so sorry about that i have to confess I'm doing this alone and without any sort of manual a bit of internet reading putting me slightly more on track

Spent today painting part and starting in the engine bay afternoon was disappointing as Tryed to rebuild my fuel pump with but the rebuild kit was different to my pump :/
Then went and welded up the crack in the og door skin time to make it whole again tomorrow and then I'll have two doors for the first time yay

Nope just an old zenith carb under the filter. I have a rebuild kit on the way for it at the moment along with a new master cilinder. Anybody know if any other cars/trucks share the same size fuel pump sediment bowl mine may have been knocked over and smashed today :/

i see you are near Dunedin, i think port Otago is nearby, as we have the old port Otago tugs Karetai and Rangi (Wide Bay and Hervey Bay) and they are now at the port near where i live. pacific tug own them now.
they still have Dunedin port of registry.

Tony.
Yep go to uni in dunedin the Otago port is just by the city. cool that they are near where you are now NZ is usually the one bringing old boats from other countries
