A couple of questions if you could help please

Fact £500 is cheap IF the chassis is ok,

Fact LR's are not cars and you should do some serious research i.e drive one or two before a purchase. Especially a series landy.

This forum is full of ****s however alot of them help you out and the ****taking is the culture around here - Some newer members do go too far imo however stick with it with broad shoulders and you will have a wealth of knowledge or get ****y and leave like a child and be non the wiser.

I'll say this £500 for a decent 109 ex military is a good price. If the chassis is good then its an extremely good price. Many people spend more on a complete vehicle with a fubar chassis to rebuild on a new chassis.

P.s I know many "mechanics" qualified some quite highly in the motortrade that still do not get LR's although they are simple and basic. None would ever work on my vehicle.

Asking a simple question like where is the Vin number located would raise significant doubt in my mind that you should indeed ever buy a vehicle yourself.

Baring in mind the vehicle in question is 24v example. This can cause extra problems suchlike extra expense and indeed availability of spares as mentioned previously. Alternators, starters and all exlectical bulbs and etc.

Also bare in mind the 2.25 diesel engine is a strong reliable unit but is very very sluggish and quite an old design which in todays traffic and on long hills may upset the driver if the driver is not used to driving such a vahicle.

I have put myself out and helped you with a few questions. However I would have a good think before purchase simply because some of the questions you ask are in the very nature a quite basic and can be found online with some quick googling.

Have a good easter and if you do indeed buy the vehicle for less than £500 and it is in good nick then you might be on to a winner however I would seriously drive one before buying.

I deplore the fact that the entry requirements to the forum do not include basic grammer and punctuation.
If it were so, then perhaps more of the retarded feckwits like this would be filtered out.

And yep back to your enquiry, as pointed out price could be great, even if fair to poor condition its fine if you are handy with spanners and a welder, or if your willing to take on a project and learn as you go.
This can be great fun or an expensive pain, definitely do the research, dont be put off asking questions, there will be some off piste banter but you will get all the info you need.
Good luck, and always remember there will be other vehicles that come along so dont feel the need to jump in at the first one
 
I like tanks but prefer the Saracen/Scimitar/Samaritan range mysen, more chance of driving one but the Leopard makes me hard particurlary in arctic plumage.

I appreciate that thanks. I've rebuilt plenty of classic mini's over the years so the welder has taken some abuse! I used to drive a series 3 for work on events and it was an interesting ride but project wise I fancy something a bit bigger than a mini now.
If its a bag of nails when I see it on Monday I shall just keep saving and looking.

Used to rebuild Minis too, loved them! Landys in some ways better, bigger, heavier but totally fab to work on and cheap bits.
If you enjoyed Minis you will grow to love Landys...or hate them :D
