Here’s a sad thing. My September 2017 Full Fat has now passed its 30 day anniversary in the dealer’s garage with no sign of when I might ever get it back.

I got a fabulous 10 1/2 months out of it before it broke and I’m now stuck in an XF loaner.

It’s been passed over to the finance company to deal with.

Getting blo0dy despondent now and starting to regret moving on from a perfectly good Disco 4 :(

That sucks, but look on the bright side.

You are still paying the depreciation....

But I’ve got a paper weight that does both of those things and it didn’t cost quite so bleedin’ much!
Just read an article where someone bought a 3 year old L405 Hybrid, took it to the dealership and out of curiosity asked how much the battery would be when the warranty ran out.. sit down... £10,300 (Inc VAT possibly plus fitting). Lovely car but that works out at about.. 5 of mine.

It's all relative though, isn't it?
Your veh selling price approx £2k , battery approx £100, mpg under 30 on a good day.
L405 hybrid 2015, selling price £50k approx , battery £10k, mpg approx 45.
As I said earlier in the evoque thread , when you buy a new , or near as damn it, full fat flagship Range Rover, these things are irrelevant.
BTW anyone know the expected life of the battery?

Essentially they're mobile phone batteries so maybe 7 years.

I'm all for saving the planet and would sell Mrs Bagshot for an L405, but in 10 years time when it comes up for sale.." lovely car, good tyres, 6 month's MOT etc... oh but might need a new £10k battery" (spares or repair anyone.?)
 
Cars will become disposable (they are pretty much there already!) so whilst they may not polute during their time on the road - when it comes to the energy needed for recycling, thats when the true impact of this 'green' culture will show.

Whereas our 30 year old 110 will still be going strong, still need the odd bit of work doing to it to keep it on the straight and narrow, but in the longer term, whilst it chugs diesel fuel and creates black dust, this will be far less harmful than the oddles of energy and pollution created trying to recycle a fecking Prius!

Such a positive view of the green oval ;) Expecting someone to keep it ten years, thats only for the likes of us lunatics on here :D In ten years , it will be coming up for sale for about the third or fourth time. The original owner will have traded it at three, the second owner may last three or four years before the 'character' becomes to much for them, unless they find this site, or similar, and they may be the one who's selling it.
Hopefully/probably , by then , just like phone batteries, other brands will be making the battery, same as other parts. There will also be vehs sitting in scrappies, so second hand batteries will turn up. So it'll be no different to the way it is now: a part needs replaced, stealers pluck a price out of the air, owner nearly faints, then goes looking for after-market or second hand part.

They don't pluck a price out of the air, they go to the nearest phone book and pick a page!

At some point in the future, I would happily buy a hybrid. I love driving and I enjoy a high marque vehicle, but I like to make as many eco choices as possible. At the moment, a lot of my choices are an attempt to offset my footprint , especially due to what I drive.
