My lovely series one. Was loaned to a so called friend who passed it on to a third person.
DVLA issued new V5 to that person without my consent and will not disclose the new registered keeper.
Police will not act because I loaned it out. Not considered stolen
Suspect it is probably lying somewhere rotting.
Last seen around Thorveton Devon.
Have all documents and past history.
If spotted please call 07971 451383

Sorry to hear of your loss. I know how you feel as I had something similar happen to my series 3.

Sorry to hear pal. In this day and age, trust no-one !!! Can't you trace it through your so-called mate. And surely, thats a fraudulent acquisition anyway.

Have tried. He pi*****d off to Thailand to work .

I cannot understand why the DVLA will not disclose the name and address of the person that they issued a new V5 to.
They were contacted and the reply was to the effect that the information was Data Protected and the new owner may be 'an innocent purchaser who would not welcome being contacted in and involved in court proceedings'

How comes they issued a new v5 anyway ??

They will still issue the V5 regadless of if the vehicle is stolen or not. All they are interested in is who the driver is so they know where to send the fines.

I had the same with mine.

I eventually located my landy and was still unable to get it back from the current keeper because he had 'done some work to it' and would be out of pocket.:confused::confused:

I managed to get the majority of the money out of the guy that stole it though after giving him the chice of paying or 'not';):D

a mate has his bike nicked from storage and someone applied for a new v5 for it and the dvla contacted my mate before they would issue it. Is this still not the case then?

well what a crazy feckin way to go on... no wonder we dont stand a chance

Get it on www.lrsoc.com too - that's the Series 1 owners club. Nice bunch of people... bit different to the folk you get on here, but, am sure will be supportive and maybe able to help you

The registered keeper is not the legal owner-just report it stolen,if the useless plod and DVLA **** you around you are left with two options
How to get information from DVLA records : Directgov - Motoring

Secondly retrieve it by applying for a V5-costs money but gives keepers address.

How the **** Ratty didn't get his back is beyond me as you cant have good title to stolen goods.
