Hi, I've been lurking around for a short while so thought it was about time I started a project thread seeing as I can't keep my nose out of everyone else's. Any help and advice would be much appreciated!
A little bit about myself and the 90... I'm a painter in the motor trade and last year I bought myself a 1987 90, with a galvanised chassis and a 200tdi engine with the intentions of making it into a tidy one, to my own spec, hopefully being able to use it every day with the occasional playing around in the mud!
As you can see, plenty of work to be done! None of the lights work, fuel gauge doesn't work, bit of an oil leak on top of the engine and near the gearbox and plenty of dents and bad paintwork!
I've been trying to do as much as I can in the small amount of spare time I can find outside of work, painting jobs as foreigners, trying to decorate my first home and actually having a life. It's all being done in a friends unit (who I work with) and I'm using what Land Rover knowledge he has to help me along the way.
I managed to get it stripped down and a coat of gloss black on the wheels (priorities I know, but I managed to blag some spray booth time at work). However, I did want to sell the tyres and get some all terrain type ones so I can actually hear myself think when I'm driving. So if anyone is interested in 5 x Goodyear Wrangler Mtr's 15" then let me know (may also let the alloys go aswell for the right money, compomotive Dwfs).
I then finished stripping some bits, prepped and filled the tub where needed, painted the inside and primed the outside.
I've chosen Ford Stealth grey as my colour, with plenty of gloss black to go with. I've been painting other bits at work in my spare time ready for when the rebuild starts, which are currently being kept in the attic
I found myself a replacement bulkhead, because mine seems a bit too far gone on one side (can't find any pictures unfortunately). Anyway, the replacement one was in much better condition, I got it rubbed down ready for paint then went OTT with the sealer and stonechip before painting it which will hopefully keep the weather out! I haven't got a picture of it painted but here's one of it in primer and stonechip...
And that's about as far as I've got at the moment. I've managed to get the seatbox ready for shutz/paint tonight and one wing is ready for a bit of filler, I'm hoping to have both wings, seatbox and some cappings painted this weekend and then I can start stripping the old bulkhead.
Thanks for reading (if you've made it this far)
