My heater blower motor has failed, for the second time, this time filling the car with smoke!

I did repalce the whole heater box as I had one on the shelf. This I no longer have, but I do have the heater box from an earlier RRC. This looks to have the same mounting positions and the matrix pipes appear to be in the same place. The heater controls appear to be no diffrent. However the blower motor is stuck out on one side. I can't see any reason it won't fit in place of the cheap nasty palstic version.

Also is there any easy way to take the heater box out on an RRC with AC that does not entail opening up the AC system as that is still working. I did manage it last time but it was not a pleasent task.

hi
yes , sorry but you are right , dash out complete with A/C unit . as I remember so long as heater unit is from an A/C RRC it will fit . however all blower's are the same as are the heater matrix , so if push come's to push you could always change them into your heater box . good luck .

It can be done without removing the AC but its not nice, and I was worried about damaging the pipes or the evaporator. I was hoping that there was a better way (bear in mind this is a working R12 system so not cheap to regas.

As for the heater box having to be an AC one, are you sure there is such a thing? As the one I put in last timr was not from an AC car, fitted fine and looked no different to the one that came out. Only one switch was different and the resistor had to be swapped over
