Oh feck! This has bin covered many times and everybody has different views. My personal view is the Defender 110 200tdi as they are pretty easy to work on and have less electrical things to go wrong with... but the next person that comes along might say a 300tdi, td5, series. etc.;):D

join the club mate im also 6'6" and strangley enough also called james :) i drive a 1990 110 station wagon quite comfortably, doesnt have a bulkhead behind the seats anyway so can put seat right back without havin to buy removal bars n seat rails etc. however i find it bloody hard to get in a standard 90 or 110 with the bulkhead and nigh on impossible to drive any distance, thats why i binned the 90 and got the county :) best move ever made, much more room and 5 doors so can get the kids in if needed :)
as for engine, try and avoid the early td, only good if they are runnin spot on, tdi in either 200 or 300 are a bloody good choice and pretty bulletproof. v8 is the daddy but drinks fuel. and the old na diesel is a reliable go forever thing but gutless, and the 2.5 petrol is ok but for the economy you may as well have a v8.

trouble with landys is every body has a different opinion fella so you just have to try em out.

cheers. j

hi and thank you for all the good feedback

i am now thinking about the 90/110 in the 300tdi as i need the vehicle for towing (is this best??) i do like the look of the 90 over the 110 seating is not a big thing for me as i drive a mercedes sprinter and only have 3 seats any way.

if i go for the 90 i will have time to play as my van will not need to go straght away all i am thinking is will it give me the room i need its a lot to do to find out it don't lol
