hi there. new to this but must say what a cracking site.
HELP!!! my 98 autobiography auto started playing up some weeks ago when side rear quarter window with rf receiver shattered. noticed passenger door wouldn't lock on fob and would only lock with pushing button down to open and close plus drivers door would only open and shut on key. the first cold snap of winter battery is completely dead one morning. re-charged battery but happened again couple of days later. entered the four digit code using lock and unlock method, battery still tended to go flat but noticed radio coming on of own accord during the night plus heater would'nt come on, just blank screen. car had to be run for five minutes or so and turned off and on again and radio and heater comes back to life. car left standing for two days turned the ignition on but would't let me start. computer saying "press remote" but nothing happened. now have keycode lock out, and i have tryed default code and mine and now it wont take any code , and now the battry is going flat very fast within hours and it wont work on the fobs now. and still cant get it started. won't even turn over. CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE.

For a start do a search on keycode in the range rover forum.
If you have the keycode it's a simple operation described perfectly in the owners manual, if you don't have the keycode then you will have to visit a main dealer with the logbook and they will give it to you.

Hi and thanks for the reply, i have the codes but it wont take them ,but i have now found that the n/s/r door wont open and i wounder if this is why it wont take the code, plus the battry is going flat within an hour or two ,any clues
thanks

Battery knackered, on the RR the battery NEEDS to be perfect.
Are you inputting the code correctly, you need to precede the sequence with I believe 4 key movements to the left and back to center first.

Hi all, and thanks for the help, it is a brand new battery, but i have followed your advice and now i have got thee rr to take the code but now it still wont let me start it,the key fobs seam to work fine the doors open/close but when i turn the key it will say press key fob or skip that altogether and shows dash as if it were running with the trip metor showing o.o as it has reset due to battery being disconnected, so the sarger continues ,he he ooooh so any more help will be appeciated

sounds like the becm has lost its sync with the key, I'm afraid it's possibly a main dealer jobbie.
Post a link to this thread in the Range Rover section, there may be someone close to you with the relevant software.
Or you could take BOBs advice lol

I would burn it but i do love the beast he he ,how do i post a tread to the rr section, plus i have it booked in to a rr dealer on thursday but i have found some one who repair r r and has the machine and will only charge £40 , so i will let you know how i get on as i will get it over to him in the morrnig, if he carn't fix it it will be dealers job.
but i must say a big thank you for all your advice. will keep you posted
