Hi all,
Got to sort my rear brakes as the outboard pad on the offside is chattering and loose.
Took wheels off and pistons are partially seized and I got them to move so I'm going to overhaul with new discs and pads.
Question is the pad has dropped through the caliper so much it is wearing a groove in the hub section of the disc. I will try and attach an image.
Would this be a rusted pad or caliper. I assume their should be a stop on the caliper or pad to stop the pad dropping to far in. Does anyone know how it works so that I can decide if I need a new caliper of if a new pad and clips will solve it?
Many Thanks
James

Are you sure its the correct pad? I cant think how it would wear through the caliper - it's a wedge shape that's an awful lot to wear away enough to fall through.

Not sure. I'm trying to send a photo but it says the flash player has crashed so I will try a different computer.
Not done rear brakes yet on this so thats why I'm asking.
Need to get this photo done

Bit blurry but if you click on the thumbnail it's clearer. Does that help?
Also noticed I clicked on the wrong forum. This is a discovery 1 300tdi 1995
Caliper is stc1264
I think they are the same as I own both a defender and a disco.
Sorry
