Surely if you push the clutch pedal with the slave cylinder not bolted into the bell housing,it will push the piston out,& thus drop all the fluid?

I can be a bit thick sometimes.
The slave is definately working because when the pedal is pushed whilst I'm under the truck I can hear the bearing moving on the shaft.

Then it is not moving far enough due to air in system usually.

Quick update on this.
After getting advice form a member on another forum.
It turned out when taking the gearbox off the engine I didn't keep them straight & bent the clutch plate slightly.
Replaced the plate & all is now good.

The end result is what we all want when a problem arises.
My truck is back up and running.Without the support & advice from forums and it's members like this,it may well not be.
I took the gear box and clutch out,& back in 4 times this week,not something I want to do again in a hurry.But,I can do it with my eyes closed now.Lol.

The first time i did it it took me 2 full days,so around 16 hours.
The last time,6 hours start to finish.
That is completely on my own,taking the floor out & dropping the gearbox suspended on a block & tackle rigged up in the cab.Easier than an engine crane,easier to move backwards & forwards,and nothing on the floor to get it the way when working underneath.
